Carl’s Jr. Celebrates 70 Years

This month, Carl’s Jr. is celebrating their 70th anniversary with giveaways through social media. The CKE Restaurant brand has uploaded an anniversary video on their YouTube channel and photos from the 70-year old business are posted on their Facebook and Flickr pages. Giveaways are planned for random Twitter followers including t-shirts and free food. And customers who receive email offers from Carl’s Jr. can cash in a coupon for a 70-cent Famous Star on the 17th.

An anniversary party was held on Friday at the site of the original hot dog cart that started the company in Los Angeles. The Carl’s Jr. food truck was on hand serving chili dogs. Another celebration will be held on the 17th at the Carl Karcher’s star on the Anaheim/Orange County Walk of Stars in California.

Subway Marks 8,000

A new Subway restaurant in Toledo, Ohio, is the sandwich company’s 8,000th non-traditional location to open. The new location is found in a Chrysler and Jeep assembly plant. With a flexible floor plan, Subways can be opened in spots that many other restaurants aren’t able to consider. For example, Subway has locations in a car showroom, a church (where it’s used to teach job skills), and a high school (where students run it as part of a business class).

Chief Development Officer for Subway, Don Fertman explains, “These non-traditional restaurants enable the Subway chain to provide an increasing number of business opportunities to new and existing franchises and offer healthier options in venues where other brands cannot or will not go. They not only provide a much needed convenience to consumers looking for a meal in places where they are often difficult to find, but also help business owners and facility manager attract and retain customers and employees.”

Up to $3,000 in weekly prizes will also be awarded to businesses that drop their name into a virtual fishbowl. Through the promotion, The UPS Store is also offering Facebook-only coupons for discounts on business-related services. Details and contest eligibility will be available on The UPS Store corporate Facebook page starting July 18.

Home Care Assistance to Pursue Corporate Expansion

Home Care Assistance has announced a new, aggressive plan to expand their corporate locations by at least ten every year. The corporate expansion will be in conjunction with their continued franchise growth.

Lily Sarafan, COO of Home Care Assistance said, “This innovative hybrid strategy will allow us to serve a broader population of seniors with our premier caregiving services at a time when the demand for around the clock-in-home care is increasing rapidly. Having a wide network of corporate offices will also allow us exciting new customer service and marketing campaigns that we can share with our franchise owners.”
