Billions Season 6

Billions Season 5 aired its season finale just last month. And since then, fans of the show have been craving yet another episode of the show. Well, who wouldn’t? After all, Billions is a really amazing show in its own right and has been upping the quality for quite some time now. Fans are probably wondering if it is going to happen following the events of Season 5. And that is what we are going to shed light on today.

Billions is a show that has been a staple for audiences engaged in the financial markets for quite some time now. The show introduces a side of the market that no one knows about and introduces a rivalry that is unlike any other. This is why the show has been doing so well. It gives a blend of serious entertainment and lighthearted drama that is unlike any other on television right now. So without much further discussion, let us get right into the future of the show and talk about the release date and the latest news.

Billions Season 6: About The Show

Billions is an American drama that has been on the air for quite some time now. It focuses on two rivals competing against each other in the financial markets and trying to one up each other. It is created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The two main characters of the show Axe and Chuck engage in a long lasting rivalry that goes beyond what each of them could have ever imagined.

The show went on to perform beyond anyone’s expectations and Damian Lewis’ portrayal of Axe became a big talking point for the show considering the pains that he took to show up at the production each time and the quality of work that he produced every time. Paul Giamatti, as usual, has given his best performance here and there is nothing that one can find to complain about. Both these actors have done an amazing job on the show and brought it to life.

Billions Season 6 is going to be bringing major changes to the show that the viewers might not have seen coming. And it is going to be quite major. So there is a lot riding on the sixth season of the show. Mainly because of the big change in cast.

Billions Season 6: Damian Lewis Departs

This is a change that some fans had seen coming. Damian Lewis, as has been long planned, is not going to be returning as the protagonist Axe in the sixth season. Following the death of Helen McCroy, who plays Axe’s wife in the show, the producers made the decision not to make Axe the protagonist for the sixth season. Instead, Corey Stoll, who plays Michael Prince, is going to be playing the Protagonist for the sixth season of the show.

Elaborating a bit on the departure of Damian Lewis, Koppelman said, “The goodbyes on Billions and the hellos on Billions are never permanent; nothing is etched in stone. But that said, Damian’s time as a regular on Billions has come to an end.”

“A pleasure and a privilege to play Axe for 5 seasons with some of the smartest, funniest most talented cast and crew I’ve worked with. I’ll miss the Billions family. Yep, some jobs are more than just a job…. Love,” Lewis stated in his own tweet. This is certainly an emotional departure for the actor as well as viewers of the show. And he will be sorely missed for the remaining run of the show. But alas, that is just the way things are right now.

Billions Season 6: Lewis’ Cameo

However, fans should not lose heart as there is still a chance that Lewis might return to the show next season in a non recurring cameo. The character of Axe is quite central to the story, and it would not really be Billions without him. But nothing has been confirmed yet, and it is just a speculation that Axe might make a small return for the sixth season of the show.

To add to the controversy, show creator Koppelman also stated that “Knowing the conditions in which he performed, traveling back and forth to England for years to be with his family, it’s impossible to imagine just how hard and focused that guy worked. We feel really honored and lucky to have had five years of being able to know that Damian Lewis was Bobby Axelrod. But, again, not saying it’s goodbye forever.”

So there is a lot of evidence to say that Axe could return for the season, even if in a small role. And that is good news for all of us fans.

Billions Season 6: Release Date

Now, coming to the part that everyone has been waiting for. Billions Season 5 aired its finale just over a month ago so fans would not expect the next season to arrive so soon. However, it has been announced that it might not be as long of a wait as we thought.

Billions Season 6 is going to be released on January 23, 2022, and is going to be made available on Showtime. This is quite a short duration between seasons. But there is a catch. Billions Season 6 is going to be the final season of the show. That is right, there is going to be no Billions season after this one and this is going to be it for the show. Fans will not be happy about this. But the producers have already made the decision, and we have to live with it.

Billions Season 6: Final Words

I have big expectations from the final season and I really hope that Michael is able to bring the show to its much needed end. The show has had a good run so far, and it deserves to go out with a bang. That being said, I’m happy about the short break between seasons, and really look forward to watching the show this January.
