Blasphemous 2

As someone who was born in the age of platformers, I share a deep love for them with all those who appreciated them for all their simple fun. In fact, I spent almost my entire childhood dabbling around with platformers that spanned different stories and different environments, with each bringing something new and innovative to the table. However, with time, platformers fell out of popular culture and only a small subset of people continued to play them. And another such game that continues to be relevant as a platformer in today’s time is Blasphemous 2, which has just been announced by the developer The Game Kitchen. A sequel to the largely well-received Blasphemous, it is a game that has been the talk of the internet for quite some time now.

I’m sure that you are wondering what exactly it is that the new game is about, and how it will differ from the first game in the series. So don’t worry at all because I have all the information with me today. I will also be talking about the DLC that The Game Kitchen has announced for the first game that has been released before the second game in the series, Blasphemous 2. This is because I predict that both the DLC that wraps up the story from the first game and the second game in the series are closely going to be linked to each other. As such, it becomes important to talk about the two of them together.

So without much further ado, let us get right into the middle of everything and talk about what it is that The Game Kitchen has announced about its new game.

Blasphemous 2: A Teaser

It is well known that the best way to talk about an upcoming way and to get some hype around it is to release a teaser for it. It has proven to be an effective marketing technique time and time again. The way it works is that it provides minimal information about what is yet to come and gets everyone to discuss it and the way that things are going to be. It provides a sense of mystery that pulls in the crowds and is ultimately good for the publicity of the game, whilst simultaneously being that much vaguer. But what I have not seen before is the way that Blasphemous 2 gives out its teaser. It is a serious piece of marketing that other companies could learn a lot from.

Talking about the teaser for Blasphemous 2, it is not just a standalone teaser for the game. Rather, Blasphemous 2 was teased along with the release trailer for the Blasphemous DLC Wounds of Elventide which sets a completely amazing tone with a sequence that one would remember for a long time. The DLC for the game is proving to be one of the bigger releases for the studio at this point in time and the way that they have done the trailer is simply phenomenal, with the graphics for the game taking the front seat and driving the point of the developers home whilst simultaneously giving a gist of what is yet to come.

Blasphemous 2: Release Date

Now you might be asking what the release date for the game would be, given that the DLC for the game is coming out before the sequel, Blasphemous 2. So it is quite obvious that the game might be quite some time into the future right now. But that is not the case. In their trailer, The Game Kitchen announced that the final DLC for the game, Blasphemous: Wounds of Vermintide will be released on December 9, which was quite a while ago, while the next game in the series, Blasphemous 2 is going to be released sometime in 2023. That is not a far-off date considering that we are already almost halfway into this year.

However, if the timeline is anything to go by, we should expect the next game in the franchise sometime in the third quarter of 2023, given that the game developers would not want to put a halt on the sales of the final DLC for the first game.

Blasphemous 2: Final Words

With all that being said, it is no doubt that Blasphemous 2 is shaping up to be one of the biggest platformers of the upcoming year, and is surely going to cause a lot of havoc in the community. I’m personally really excited for the game, and cannot wait to see what it brings to the table.
