Chevalier de Saint-Georges is not a name many might have heard of. Yet, it is a huge name in the music industry, and history itself. Known by many as the Black Mozart, Chevalier de Saint-Georges was an established composer and musician who changed music and art for the better. He established his identity and went down as one of the best in history. Now, a film is being made on his true life story. Titled true to his name, the new film is going to focus on his struggles while growing up. The way he pulled himself out of poverty and racial oppression, and the way he made himself. It is a tale of sheer will and effort. And it is the true tale of the musician, doing justice to his existence.
Based on the script written up by Stefani Robinson, Chevalier de Saint-Georges is surely going to be amazing. Stefani Robinson is a well known name in the industry. She is the producer of Atlanta and What We Do In The Shadows. She has also won Emmys for her phenomenal script writing and now she is back with yet another original script for Chevalier de Saint-Georges. So it is going to be amazing. In other news, Samara Weaving is going to be starring in the movie. The breakout actress who is famous for her role on Ready or Not, is also going to be cast in the new G.I. Joe movie Snake Eyes as Scarlett. And now, she has taken on her role as Marie-Josephine in the movie Chevalier de Saint Georges.

Chevalier de Saint-Georges: Casting Samara Weaving
This is a huge news for fans of the actress. Samara Weaving is an excellent actress and has thus far had us in sheer awe. Samara has a wide range of emotions and roles that she can play, and it is quite evident with the choice of films she does. She is starring in two vastly different films at around the same time, and that speaks volumes about her. G.I. Joe is one of the biggest franchises on the planet, and a moneymaker. On the other hand, this small movie about the supposed Black Mozart is more of a small movie with a not so huge cast and team. It says a lot about the actress and paints her in a very good light.
Samara Weaving will be starring as Marie-Josephine alongside co-star Kelvin Harrison Jr., who will be playing the role of Joseph Bologne, or as titled, Chevalier de Saint-Georges. Both are excellent performers and we expect a lot from their roles in the movie.
What’s The Movie About
The movie is based around Joseph Bologne, who is the illegitimate son of a plantation owner and a slave. He was then educated in France and became a fencing master, which paved his way into the fine French society of the time. Riding on the melodies of his music and opera, he made his way up the society into Paris’ finest, until a huge scandal left him with nothing and destroyed him. And that is where Marie-Josephine comes in. She is a woman of creativity, and one who breaks away from her empty and unfulfilled marriage to find fulfillment in music. She breaks away from her controlling husband and goes on to become the voice of Bologne’s opera.
The movie has a really engrossing theme. And the fact that it is based on a true life story makes it even more hard hitting and really strikes the point home. It is going to be a movie of struggle, of racial and economic oppression, and of rising up from the ashes. It is looking really good from what we know so far and our expectations are definitely up there. We just hope the movie lives up to all its promises. A lot is also riding on Samara Weaving, so that will be interesting to watch.
