Cyberpunk 2077

Cyberpunk 2077 is perhaps one of the most controversial games of the past decade. The game was awaited for so long and generated a hype that was unlike any other. It was expected to be one of the best games ever put out, but it went on to become one of the most controversial games of all time owing to the technical issues that the game had and seemingly being in a state that was far from complete. The game had a botched release with users coming in to complain about the technical issues that the game had.

Eventually, CD Projekt Red had to take a stand and pull all of the copies for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game from the shelves and refund its buyers. That was over a year ago. And since then, a lot has changed. So is it a good time to buy Cyberpunk 2077? Or has the game lost its charm owing to the botched release that it had? And where can you get it for a good price? Cyberpunk 2077: The History of The Game

Cyberpunk 2077 has a very interesting history once you tend to get into it. The game was announced in the early 2010s and went on to become one of the most demanded games of all time from CD Projekt Red. The game promised to be something new that no one had ever done before and hence went on to garner a following that ardently waited for its release for so many years. The game underwent a long development cycle, before finally being showcased at E3 towards the end of the decade. This generated a lot of hype among the public.

The game had largely been awaited by the public but underwent a lot of delays owing to the production time and the scope of the game. To add to that, the gameplay showcase was run on systems that were beyond the capabilities of the available consoles at the time. So a lot of optimization had to be done before the game could be put out into the market. The folks over at CDPR felt the pressure though and started to rush the production for the game. Cyberpunk 2077 was eventually released in 2020 and went on to have a massive release that involved the actor Keanu Reeves.

The Botched Launch Of Cyberpunk 2077

Things were not all merry though. At the launch, it was quite apparent that the game was still not complete, and there was a lot of work to be done on it. A lot of stuff inside the game was broken, and the game ran terribly on the consoles. The game was marketed for the PS4 and the Xbox One but it was barely playable on both consoles. The PC version, too, was riddled with bugs and ran terribly on competent systems. This resulted in a lot of backlash from the public, and CDPR eventually had to pull the console versions of the game off the shelves.

Fast forward to 2021, CDPR released a number of patches for the game and improved its performance and stability. They fixed a lot of the bugs that plagued the game at launch and the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game were re-released to the public. This was a particularly big move by CDPR and meant that the public had access to the game again.

However, one thing to note is that a free next-gen upgrade is included with both the Xbox as well as the Playstation versions of the game. So you would be able to play the game on your Xbox Series X as well as PS5.
