Doctor Foster Season 3 is perhaps one of the most awaited shows in its category right now. The show, which came out almost 7 years ago made a name for itself at its release, and since then, viewers have flocked to it like moths to a flame. And that is not even considering the new viewers the show rakes in every month. There is a lot to be said about Doctor Foster, and there are certainly a lot of people out there who are waiting for each little bit of news about the show. This is why we are here to talk about it today. I really like shows that involve a little bit of mystery and suspense and a lot of drama. Doctor Foster certainly fits that bill.
The show has a fan following that is quite loyal to it and has followed the show quite closely ever since it came out. This is because Doctor Foster is a show that really is very different from the rest. In fact, it is not easy to even categorize it. It is that strange. However, the show is one that you are definitely going to love if you are a fan of shows that involve a little bit of mystery and are on the darker side. There is also the question of a third run for the show. As the viewers know, the creators still haven’t released the third season of the show and it is really difficult to find news about the same. So let us talk about all of these things, and discuss all future possibilities.
Doctor Foster Season 3: About The Show
Doctor Foster is a show that revolves around a mystery that might not seem to be of consequence to most people. The show follows Dr Gemma as she sets out to find out the truth behind her husband. But what exactly is this truth that everyone is talking about? The answer might surprise you. Dr. Gemma is out to find out the truth behind her husband’s fidelity after she suspects him having an extramarital affair. It is certainly a bad situation for her and one that she wants to get to the bottom of. But you might think that it is not enough to warrant a whole show. That is where things really get interesting.
As Gemma goes deeper into the mystery behind her husband’s behavior, she is shocked to discover what she finds. It is certainly not what she expected, and doesn’t fit the description most of you would have for the guy. Her husband has a lot of skeletons in his closet, and the focus of the story shifts in a manner that will please the most die hard fans of thriller and suspense. The way Gemma’s own character unfolds is another thing in itself that lends to the charm of the show. For all intents and purposes, this is one that you should definitely not be skipping on, especially if you are a fan of horror and mystery.
The second season of the show follows in pretty much the same spirit as the first one and tells a story that is grimmer than viewers would expect. However, it is not a direct continuation of the first season. In fact, it is another story in itself and both the runs of the show are each complete in their own way, which is sort of what lends to the complete nature of the show itself. The creators could simply decide to stop with any season without any consequences because the core story is all tied up by the end of the season.
Doctor Foster Season 3: The Future
So what does this mean for the future of the show? One thing is for sure, and that is the fact that the universe behind the show is going to survive regardless of what happens. Doctor Foster Season 2 came out back in 2017 and the show has been off the network for almost 5 years now. That is a long time for a show to be taken off any network. However, the network recently released the spin-off series called Life which is one of the best in recent times and tells the story of one of the supporting characters in the series. This is good news for fans of the show. But all things considered, it would be best to forget about Doctor Foster Season 3. There are a lot of reasons for that.
The cast and production team for the show itself doesn’t seem interested to bring back the show for yet another season, and that in itself is a huge contributor to the end of the show. The writer for the show said, “We’re definitely done and we’re all doing amazing things. Each of the two series feel like two different novels to me, so it’s not like there’s anything incomplete. It would only come back if we had the right story to tell in the right way — and I don’t have a burning desire to find that story.” This more than confirms the writer’s inclination to be done with the story for now, and it doesn’t really inspire any confidence in the show.
Suranne Jones also said, “I loved it, I love Mike Bartlett, I love the Drama Republic. Series one was amazing, series two, equally, peaked at nearly 10 million viewers and pushed in crazy directions. But I think Gemma’s done.” And that is perhaps the final nail in the coffin for the show. There is not much one can do to bring back the show when the team itself isn’t interested. So Doctor Foster Season 3 is probably never going to happen.
Doctor Foster Season 3: Final Words
Doctor Foster Season 3 is probably never going to happen, and there are a lot of reasons for it, but the show itself is an amazing one. Each run of the show is a complete one in itself and doesn’t need to lean on anything. If you’re a fan of drama and mystery, this is one I would definitely recommend you to watch.
