Final Fantasy IX is a 2000 RPG developed and released by Square for the PlayStation. It’s the ninth major Final Fantasy game. The story is set in a medieval fantasy realm named Gaia.
The game follows Zidane Tribal, a robber who kidnaps Princess Garnet Til Alexandros XVII for the neighboring realm of Lindblum. He joins Garnet and a growing cast of people to bring down Queen Brahne of Alexandria, the war’s instigator.
Development Of The Game
Final Fantasy VIII was under development at the same time as the game. Developed as a retrospective for the series, it returned to the medieval aesthetic of the previous games rather than the futuristic settings of Final Fantasy VI, VII, and VIII.
As a result, it is heavily influenced by the original Final Fantasy and incorporates references to the rest of the series. “Active Time Event” cutscenes, “Mognet,” and skill systems were added to the series despite this strategy.
Nobuo Uematsu was the only composer of the soundtrack for Last Fantasy IX, the final game in the series.
Plot Of The Game
Mainly set on Gaia, Final Fantasy IX is a swashbuckling The Mist Continent, so-called because of the heavy Mist that covers the lowlands, has the most people. Mountains naturally divide its four nations: Alexandria, Lindblum, Burmecia, and Cleyra.
Alexandria is a war-mongering dynasty that dominates half of Africa. Another is Treno, a cultural hub with aristocracy and paupers coexisting. Surrounded by mountains to the southwest, the technologically sophisticated Lindblum is an airship center.
Humans, humanoids, and anthropomorphic animals coexist in both nations. Located in the northwest lies Burmecia, a land of perpetual rain. It is shielded by a sandstorm in a gigantic tree in the desert, which is why it seceded from Burmecia. Both are inhabited by anthropomorphic rats that like spear combat and dancing.
The Outer, Lost, and Forgotten Continents are also explored. There are dwarfs in Conde Petie; sentient magician drones in Black Mage Village; and horned humanoid summoners in Madain Sari, who create strong magical entities known as eidolons in Madain Sari.
This is also where the Iifa Tree grows, dispersing the Mist via its roots to neighboring continents. A brutal history of Gaia is fueled by this Mist’s warring urge. The Lost and Forgotten lands are full o ruins.
Small frog-eating humanoids called Qu to inhabit Gaia’s wetlands. Travel to Terra and Memoria late in the game.
Vivi Ornitier, a young, timid, and kind black mage of unknown origin; Adelbert Steiner, a brash Alexandrian knight captain and loyal servant of Princess Garnet; Freya Crescent, a Burmecian dragoon searching for her lost love; Quina Que, a young, feisty, and kind black mage of unknown origin; Quina Que, a young, feisty, and kind black mage of unknown origin.
Brahne, Garnet’s mother and Queen of Alexandria, General Beatrix, the commander of Alexandria’s all-female army, Garland, an elderly Terran male charged with saving his world, and antagonist Kuja, an arms dealer, and pawn of Garland who questions his own existence, are all important characters in the story.
Achievement of The Release
5.5 million copies of Final Fantasy IX were sold on PlayStation by March 2016, making it one of the best-selling PlayStation games of all time. PS1 Classics were launched in 2010 on the PlayStation Store and were playable on PS3 and PSP; the PS Vita version was added in 2012.
It was in the late 2010s that Square Enix produced versions with modest gameplay and graphics improvements for a variety of additional systems. Square Enix and Cyber Group Studios have set a 2021 release date for an animated series based on their game.
System Is Fun And Flexible
The magic of FINAL FANTASY IX’s ability system is its simplicity and depth. It works like this: practically all gear and weapons have innate talents and support abilities.
Some skills, like magic spells or lethal physical strikes, are active instructions. You can use it forever if you have it equipped.
Support abilities are passive boosts that increase a character’s health or damage against selected enemies. You’ll need magic stones to utilize them, and you’ll never have enough to use them all.
Then there’s the issue of certain characters not being able to utilize certain talents. It all requires constantly deciding on your party’s makeup.
