Ever since the birth of the film industry, there have been lots of movies that have transcended genres and established genres of their own. It has been a very unreal journey since then, with movies pushing the limits of human imagination and technology. But something that has always been a part of the movie industry is absurdism. A niche that is not preferred by many, movies that fall into this category usually go on to have very small but fiercely loyal fan followings. And the same seems to be the case with Shadow In The Cloud. This is why we are going to talk all about it today, and with a lot of interest, might I add.
For those of you who are familiar with movies like this that transcend the common sense of the way things should be, you know how confusing of an affair it can sometimes become. But it can also be quite an interesting one, sprouting theories, and stories that are unlike any other. The sheer randomness of it all can be a huge catalyst for the seemingly endless possibilities that people can imagine about it. That is what I love the most about such movies. Taking us back to the era of the second world war, Shadow In The Cloud is another such movie that will leave you with a lot of weird and unanswered questions. So without much further ado, let us get right into our discussion about the movie.

Shadow In The Cloud: The Review
Shadow In The Cloud is a movie that seems really simple on the surface. One would assume that it is a movie about a woman’s struggles through her time in a male-dominated society during the era of the second world war. But the movie makes it really clear that it is not at all about that in the very opening sequences. The movie is one that will transcend all sense of understanding for most people and that reflects in its opening sequences. The movie begins by addressing the menace of the weird creatures that no one understands about: gremlins. It is 1943, and World War II is raging on and there is no sign of relief. Gremlins are invading everywhere and causing a huge menace, claiming lives in the process. The movie just falls short of introducing zombies into its narrative, but perhaps that is what makes it unique.
Maude Garrett, played by Chloë Grace Moretz here, is the main focus of the story here, and the movie shows her on the way to the plane named “The Fool’s Errand”. She is on a top-secret mission, and the men around her don’t seem to realize her importance. Living in a patriarchal society, she is quickly shunned by her fellow male passengers on the plane, and she is quickly assigned a place on the bottom of the plane on the turret. Things don’t go smoothly for her as she is repeatedly shunned by the men on the plane and she has to fight for her place. Someone does take a stand for her, and it is really a relief to have his presence, as these moments go on to become one of the most defining moments of the film. The acting here by the actress is simply amazing and gives Shadow In The Cloud something to really stand on in its first act.
The gremlins soon take their part in the story and wreak havoc on Garrett. Dismissing her, the men above think that she is being delusional. However, things take a turn for the worse. Chaos ensues, and what happens is what can simply be described as pure action and chaos, and will really appeal to the mass audience. Shadow In The Cloud never lets down in terms of what it wants to do and creates a very intriguing narrative that never feels too stale or stagnant or stretched out. The sheer amount of entropy here is enough to make the film interesting and confusing enough to warrant a good watch. There are a lot of problems with the film, including the fact that there is simply no explanation for most of the things that have happened and viewers are just supposed to accept them.

Shadow In The Cloud: The Verdict
Coming to the verdict for the film, it is going to be quite easy for me to say that it is a film that would not appeal to everyone. It is a good film, but it is not one that fits conventional standards. So it is a little difficult for me to recommend it to anyone. However, if you are someone who is into strange stuff, this is one you should try out.
