Launch Date
Vivo X Fold has been launched on 11 April 2022, exclusively in China, though there is no word on global availability and release date. But one question that has left us wondering is will the X Fold ever be released outside of China? This is because many of Vivo’s handsets never make it outside of China, let alone the West. What worsens the situation further is Android Authority reports which suggest that the company told it in March that there are “no plans at the moment for the foldable to receive a global launch.”
Vivo X Fold: Price, Colors
There are two versions of X Fold that are available:
- 12GB RAM + 256GB storage: $1400 approx. or 8999 Yuan

The model is available currently in two colors- Black and Blue.
Vivo X Fold Specifications
With its patent folding display design, the Vivo X Fold has firmly established itself as the flagship phone of the Vivo brand.
All the recent technological advancements, as have been introduced by Samsung in its foldable models, find a place in the X Fold also.
This high-end smartphone has a folding 8.03in, 1800 x 2200, LTPO 3 AMOLED E5 display on the inside and comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner as well.

Vivo’s hinge has gained a great reputation for itself, with rumors hinting it to be similar to the aircraft grade, which allows the handset to stay in place at almost all angles especially between 60 and 120 degrees, thereby adding another feature to the phone. However, there is no stylus support like in Galaxy Z Fold 3.
The X Fold also carries a 6.53-inch AMOLED display at the front with a ratio of 21:10 and 3080 x 1440 resolution, along with another fingerprint scanner. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, accompanied by 12GB of RAM and a choice of either 256 or 512GB of storage.
Camera
The cameras are particularly impressive- no points for guessing that this is one of Vivo’s strengths. The camera setup comprises a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide camera, a periscope camera with 125mm focal length with 5X optical zoom (up to 60X digital zoom), and a 12MP camera for portraits. The phone also includes the company’s own V1 ISP for image processing.
You will also find two 16MP hole-punch selfie cameras; one on the outer display and another one on the inner.
Battery and Charging
Speaking of Power, the foldable is backed by 4600mAh which is enough to keep the two screens running all day. If not, the phone supports 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging, with a 10W reverse wireless charging option too.
The Final Verdict
With its first foray into the world of foldable phones, Vivo isn’t stopping short at any point, as indicated by the top-notch specifications.
Vivo X Fold USP’s is its distinctive foldable design, that the possessors of this smartphone can proudly flaunt. Apart from that, this particular model is placed at the higher range of the price spectrum, while allowing users to store unlimited data and media content as well as multi-task at once.
For those whose, only encounters with foldable have been Samsung’s offerings, Vivo’s X Fold is surely not going to disappoint as the device folds entirely flat, without the gap seen by Samsung’s foldable. Moreover, the X Fold’s 8-inch foldable screen also barely leaves a crease at the folding point, again unlike the significant notch left by Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 3.
