What Will You Get In Bill and Ted 3?

It has been reported that the long-awaited third Bill and Ted film will begin production this year, with a summer 2020 release date. In a brief promotional video recorded at the Hollywood Bowl, actors Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves – portraying William “Bill” S Preston Esq and Theodore “Ted” Logan – announced the news. The next film’s title will be Bill & Ted Face the Music, and it will “hopefully” shoot in the summer, the pair announced, thanking “you the fans.”

Bill & Ted Face the Music is a comedy film directed by Dean Parisot and written by Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon that will be released in 2020. It is the third instalment in the Bill & Ted movie franchise and the sequel to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey (1991)

United Artists Releasing released Bill & Ted Face the Music in theatres and on Premium VOD simultaneously in the United States on August 28, 2020. The performances and script garnered mostly excellent reviews from critics, with many hailing it as a welcome return to form for the series.

What is Bill and Ted Move All about?

In the year 2020, Bill and Ted have failed to create the predicted song that would bring the world together. Their relationships and jobs are breaking down, and time and space are collapsing around them.

Kelly, the daughter of Bill and Ted’s time-traveling guide Rufus, comes in San Dimas, California, to transport them to the year 2720 AD. Her mother, the Great Leader, warns them that they only have until 7:17 p.m. that night to finish the song, or reality will crumble. They utilise Rufus’s time-traveling phone booth to receive the music from their future selves since they are afraid they will not be able to create it in time.

They learn, however, that their future selves have failed to create the song, that their spouses have abandoned them, and that they are blaming their shortcomings on their prior selves.

An impatient Great Leader dispatches Dennis, a time-traveling robot, to assassinate them in the hopes of restoring order to reality. Kelly flies back in time to warn them, but instead encounters their daughters, Billie and Theadora (Thea), who decide to assist in the recording of the song.

Thea and Billie use Kelly’s time machine to hire Jimi Hendrix, Louis Armstrong, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ling Lun (around 2,600 BC), and Grom, a primitive drummer. Thea, Billie, and their band return to the present to see Kelly and a time-displaced Kid Cudi, but Dennis murders them and sends them to Hell unwittingly.

Let’s See the making of Bill & Ted

Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey were both unexpectedly popular when they were released in 1989 and 1991, respectively. They memorably took on Death at Battleships, a spoof of Ingmar Bergman’s The Seventh Seal, in the first film, which had them journey through time to bring historical characters back to present-day California to help them pass their school history report.

Winter, in particular, has been pushing a third picture for years, but despite an announcement at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2018, it has never completely materialised. Along with a stellar career as the star of a succession of big movies, Reeves has shown excitement for the project.

Actors Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, as well as writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon, had become close friends throughout the shooting of the previous two Bill & Ted films, though there were no immediate plans for a sequel after the conclusion of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey in 1991. In the meanwhile, the four had continued to have prosperous careers.

A reporter asked Reeves whether he was interested in reprising his role as Ted at a red carpet event in 2005, and he said yes. This prompted the group to consider making a third film. Around 2008, the four of them started brainstorming ideas for this film.

When the film was greenlit in May 2018, both Winter and Reeves were confirmed to appear in it. In March 2019, William Sadler stated that he will reprise his role as the Grim Reaper from the second film.  The parts of Ted’s daughter Billie Logan and Bill’s daughter Thea Preston were played by Brigette Lundy-Paine and Samara Weaving, respectively.

Keanu Reeves discovered that Samara Weaving is the niece of Hugo Weaving, the actor of The Matrix, who collaborated with Reeves on the film series. Kid Cudi was also confirmed as a cast member for the film, in which he would portray himself as he becomes engrossed in the plot.  Anthony Carrigan was cast as Bill & Ted’s yet-to-be-named antagonist in the film in June 2019.

Wrapping Up

Initial shooting and production began on June 17, 2019, with cast filming beginning on July 1, 2019. The majority of the filming took place in July 2019 in New Orleans. On August 24, 2019, the filming was done. The sequence with Dave Grohl was shot in New Haven.

Although most of the actual filming in San Dimas for the first film was done in an Arizona school, the Bonita Unified School District in Los Angeles County, California, which serves the cities of San Dimas and La Verne, where the real-life San Dimas High School is located, has opened its doors to allow production to use the school on camera.
